The first thing I did when I decided I wanted locs was RESEARCH!!! I checked every website, blog, and video I could find on locs. There are different ways to loc your hair and I had to find the one that would work for me. Most of my hair was still relaxed so I figured it would be a while before I would get locs because I didn't want to cut it short. (It was shoulder length) I'm not very patient so I was ready to dive right into my "Nu (bian) look" Waiting wouldn't work! In my search I saw that people's silky straight hair loc'd ....why not my relaxed hair? So I started my journey with twists that I THOUGHT would lock up! Here's what that looked like.
